MacroFactor vs MyFitnessPal
Two tools coaches often weigh against each other, compared on the same terms.
MacroFactor
A food-logging app with fast AI photo and voice logging and an adaptive algorithm that adjusts calorie targets from a client's real weight trend.
MyFitnessPal
The food diary most clients have already installed, with the largest branded-food database — convenient, if less precise than the alternatives.

What it is
MacroFactor
A nutrition tracker from the Stronger By Science team. Clients log by photo, voice, barcode or search, and the app recalculates their energy expenditure each week from what they ate and how their weight moved.
MyFitnessPal
The default calorie tracker. Its advantage is not accuracy, it is that the food your client actually ate is probably already in the database, and they probably already have an account.
Best for
MacroFactor
Clients who have given up on slower food diaries, and coaches who want targets based on data rather than a formula. The logging speed is the whole point.
MyFitnessPal
Clients new to tracking, where the goal is awareness and adherence rather than precision to the gram.
Watch out for
MacroFactor
There is no free tier, so it is a cost you are asking clients to take on. AI photo estimates are estimates — portion sizes still need a human eye.
MyFitnessPal
The database is crowd-sourced and full of wrong entries. Several features coaches rely on — including some macro and scanning tools — have moved into the paid tier over the years, so check what is free before you build a protocol on it.
